Wrap Up

As ShiftCon 1.0 came to a close, we all looked back on the discussions, conversations, insights, and experiences. It brought together the young minds from diverse backgrounds and helped them to see beyond conventional paths, considering possibilities they may not have encountered before.

Through engaging discussions with speakers from varied fields, participants gained not only new knowledge but also fresh perspectives on ideas they thought they understood, which challenged them to question - were our interests really ours, or had they been influenced by the expectations of society?

As Mariam revisited the key takeaways from each speaker, one that stood out the most was 'having multiple passions'. Like one of the speakers described himself as playing several roles in his life: a professional, an educator, and a literature enthusiast. His words shed light on a belief many of us grow up with - we must choose a single path. But in reality, our interests need not be related to one specific field alone.

Over the course of this three-day convention, attendees were exposed to perspectives and experiences that often remain hidden beneath the surface level of understanding, mainly due to limited exposure and the lack of proper guidance. For many, ShiftCon 1.0 did not provide an answer to what they should become. Instead, it sparked curiosity to find their direction and fuel it through questioning, exploration and discovering what truly resonates with them.

Furthermore, Mariam described Stick as more than just an event or an app. Through initiatives such as podcasts, roundtable discussions, street interviews, and community engagement programs, it aims to build an entire ecosystem that encourages curiosity, exploration, and self-discovery.

However, ideas alone do not create impact - people do. Campus Ambassadors - the young minds at Stick, played a significant role in bringing ShiftCon 1.0 to life. Their collective efforts and enthusiasm transformed ShiftCon 1.0 into a meaningful platform for dialogue, learning, and new perspectives. Acting as a bridge between the initiative and students, they helped foster connections, conversations, and engagement throughout this convention.

The address concluded with gratitude towards sponsors, speakers, participants, and the team who contributed to making ShiftCon 1.0 possible. More importantly, the students left not just with the answers to their questions but with something more valuable than a roadmap - a broader perspective on the choices, opportunities, and possibilities that lie ahead.
